Description

The MOC3052 is an optically isolated Triac driver, meaning it has an LED on the input side and a Triac on the output side. When a sufficient current is applied to the LED, it emits infrared light, which activates the Triac, allowing current to flow on the output side. This configuration allows for safe control of high-power AC loads with a low-power DC control signal.

Features

  • Non-zero Crossing Triggering: The MOC3052 supports non-zero crossing triggering, which means it can be used to switch on the Triac at any point in the AC waveform. This is useful for phase control applications such as light dimming or motor speed control.
  • Isolation Voltage: High isolation voltage between the input and output (typically 5,000 VRMS) ensures safety in applications involving high voltages.
  • Low Input Drive Current: The LED requires a relatively low drive current (10-15 mA typical) to activate the Triac.
  • High Static dv/dt: The device can withstand high dv/dt (rate of change of voltage) conditions without malfunctioning, making it suitable for noisy environments.
  • Compact Package: Available in a small 6-pin DIP (Dual In-line Package) or SMD (Surface Mount Device) package, making it easy to incorporate into various designs.
  • RoHS Compliance: Environmentally friendly, compliant with lead-free and RoHS standards
