Description

The MOC3043 consists of an infrared LED optically coupled to a photodiode that drives a triac. When the LED is activated by an input signal, it emits infrared light, which is detected by the photodiode. This triggers the triac when the AC voltage waveform crosses zero, thereby reducing noise and protecting the load from excessive inrush currents.

Features

  • Zero-Crossing Triggering: The MOC3043 triggers the triac when the AC voltage waveform crosses zero. This reduces EMI and minimizes inrush currents, making it suitable for both inductive and resistive loads.
  • High Isolation Voltage: Provides electrical isolation of up to 7500 Vrms between the input and output sides, ensuring safe operation in high-voltage environments.
  • Lower Input Trigger Current: The MOC3043 requires an even lower LED trigger current compared to the MOC3041, making it more sensitive and easier to drive with low-power control circuits.
  • Compact DIP Package: Available in a 6-pin Dual Inline Package (DIP), making it easy to integrate into various circuit designs.
  • High dv/dt Immunity: The device is designed to handle high rates of voltage change (dv/dt) without false triggering, ensuring reliable operation in noisy electrical environments.
