The MAX7221 is a serially interfaced LED driver IC, designed to control up to 8 seven-segment numeric LED displays or 64 individual LEDs. It offers enhanced functionality compared to its sibling, the MAX7219, with improved SPI communication and additional features for easier integration in microcontroller-based systems.
